New Research Findings in Global Report on Data Quality

When it comes to maintaining data accuracy, organizations across the globe are struggling, according to a recent survey conducted by independent research organization Dynamic Markets.

Results from the survey of 550 companies in ten countries, show that U.S. businesses agree on three key drivers for clean customer data:

  • Enhancing customer satisfaction (63%)
  • Providing better service for customers or prospects (55%)
  • Protection of the organization’s reputation and brand value (54%)

In addition, the research indicates that 77% of U.S. businesses admit that data quality problems are hurting revenues.

Jonathan Hulford-Funnell, Chief Operating Officer of QAS, comments, "Nearly all U.S. businesses surveyed recognize they have data quality issues, and just over half plan to invest in better data management practices over the next twelve months."

"It is good to see that U.S. businesses recognize that they simply must use data quality to their advantage in planning for the future in the global marketplace."

Shorter Lines at People's Bank thanks to QuickAddress Pro

Managers at People’s Bank were frustrated by a persistent problem: the need for customer service representatives to “rework” customer records, in particular, to fix inaccurate address data.

"We had a significant problem in the area of address management," said Jim Gerace, VP of IT at the bank.

"We enter addresses right from bank branches. If the address elements don’t go into the proper fields, or there are misspellings, then sensitive financial documents are either returned to us or end up at the wrong address."

Savings: Two Minutes per Address

The Connecticut-based bank installed QuickAddress Pro, and used it to validate addresses of customers coming in to open accounts and credit lines.

QuickAddress Pro can save up to 75% of keystrokes needed to enter an address. This helps branch staff enter complicated street or town names without misspellings or typos, and without having to ask customers to spell their addresses.

"I estimate we save about two minutes per record entry thanks to QuickAddress," Gerace added. "It seems like a small amount, but when you have a long line in a bank, that time adds up."

"We couldn't be more pleased."

Ask the Tech

Question: Where does QAS source Names Data for the QuickAddress Names product?

Answer: Prior to developing QuickAddress Names, QAS researched multiple consumer data providers in search of the most complete and accurate data. In the end, QAS found the Experian® INSOURCE data file to be the best in the industry and contracted with Experian. A few months later, as fate would have it, Experian acquired QAS.
